kalka mail derail in up, 60 dead and 200 hurt

New Delhi-Howrah Kalka Mail derailed near Malwa railway station in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh on 10 th July 2011.Around 60 people dead and 200 were injured as kalka mail derail near Fatehpur in UP.Train was enroute from Howrah to delhi,  14 bogies including 3AC, 5 sleeper, 2 geraral the engine and pantry car coaches was affected.

Accident tookplace at 12pm near Malwa station, Senior railways official rushed to the accident spot.

Rescue operations are still on with the help of locals, railway and district administration, accident relieif train and medical Rescue trains were reached the spot.

The train was running with  1,200 passengers on board when it derailed, but the exact number was not known..

Railway authorities said the train was travelling at a top speed of 108 kilometres per hour, when it derailed near Malwa railway station.
Railway official says "The exact cause of the derailment has not been ascertained as we are busy in rescue operations." , they investigating the cause of the accident.


All the injured passengers have been rushed to Kanpur hospital. Two relief trains, one from Kanpur and the other from Allahabad comprising of medical teams, cutting equipment, cranes, engineers have left for Malwa to assist in the rescue operations. Due to the derailment, 13 trains have been cancelled and 25 others diverted along the Allahabad-Kanpur section.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati announced a compensation of Rupees one lakh each to the kin of those who died, Rs 50,000 to seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those suffering minor injuries.
